CARBON CATCHING LIBRARY is a prototype for disseminating education and engagement with plant propagation and growth to draw carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The initial installation at the University of Alberta’s Fine Art Gallery (FAB) used library book-trucks as display structures for: 1) posters and cards with information on the ideal care of houseplants; 2) a series of books about climate change, houseplants, and related topics; and 3) houseplants that can be “checked out” using the paper-based library borrowing cards provided. This work was first presented at the Prototypes for Possible Worlds exhibition, which was held at FAB from 10 December 2019 to 11 January 2020.
