Please email or call your councillor to let them know you want the City to move forward with a strong energy transition strategy. Edmonton has been a climate action leader, we want to ensure that the city continues to lead. You can find your councillor’s contact info here.
In the coming weeks we will post here an easy to use Email Your Councillor Tool that you can share with your networks to mobilize them around local climate action.
This is what the Executive Committee will be discussing on July 12th:
At the April 25, 2019, Executive Committee meeting, the following motion was passed: That Administration bring back a report showing:
- Whether Edmonton’s current Energy Transition Strategy targets are aligned with a maximum of a 1.5 degree Celsius global average temperature increase, as outlined in the Edmonton Declaration.
- If the strategy does not meet this level of ambition, provide preliminary recommendations for possible changes and outline a process that could be followed to establish new targets, engage stakeholders and conduct a robust financial analysis with the intent of updating the Energy Transition Strategy with actions that reflect these new target levels.
