Our last day, if you can believe it.
We wrapped up with two workshop presentations. The first, of course, being the Speculative Energy Future presentation by Dr. Sheena Wilson, Dr. Natalie Loveless, and Jessie Beier. Thank you to everyone who speculated with us, and for another passionate and thoughtful discussion period!
In the afternoon, Dr. Sheena Wilson, Dr. Sourayan Mookerjea, Dr. M.E. Luka, and Jessie Beier led us in the iDoc workshop. Thanks to the support of other team members — including Ariel Kroon, Jordan Kinder, Adam Carlson, Catlin Kuzyk, Dr. Natalie Loveless, and Danika Jorgensen-Skakum — and the leadership of Dr. Mookerjea and Jessie Beier, we ran through an amazing abbreviation of the Perfect Storm! game. We were divided into avatar teams, each representing a different faction of the real-life stakeholders involved in energy transition, and through role-playing we developed sets of values which were needed to collaborate together across and between interests with other stakeholders. We learned a lot from this experience, and we can’t wait to share this activity again with our Edmonton peers later this fall (stay tuned for more details on that!).
In the evening we attended the closing gala at the Glasgow Riverside (Transport) Museum, home to many transportation artifacts including motorized wheelchairs and double-decker trolleys. For the night, the museum was also host to the Petrocultures community, and we were treated to fabulous fiddle music, dancing, and great company.
Thank you to everyone who came to our workshops, thank you to all of the other participants who shared their knowlede(s) with us, and a big thank-you to the organizers, who made future collaborations and new international relationships possible. Thank you for following along on our journey, and we’ll see you soon!
