On November 23, 2019, the La Cité Résiliente team hosted an official launch with opening remarks from Sheena Wilson (Project Lead, Just Powers), Daniel Cournoyer (Executive Director, La Cité), Danika Jorgensen-Skakum (Research Coordinator, Just Powers), Marlin Schmidt (MLA-Gold Bar), and an introduction to the project by Shafraaz Kaba (Architect, Ask for a Better World). The Solar Power Investment Cooperative of Edmonton (SPICE) then led the team and community members through a workshop on solar power’s community benefits, concluding with community coalition planning!
November’s Launch + Learn was part of La Cité Résiliente, a community-led project with La Cité francophone and the Bonnie Doon neighbourhood. In response to the city-wide Change for Climate campaign, La Cité résiliente brings together Bonnie Doon residents, students, business-owners and community users to learn, share and prepare for unfolding energy and climate transitions over the next decade.
